A newlywed was killed by a man holding a machete while working at Dollar Tree.

Keris Riebel, a 22-year-old newlywed, was slain by a man wielding a machete inside the Dollar Tree store in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, where she worked.

According to officials, the terrible incident occurred around 4:25 p.m. inside the shop on 1120 Wyandot Ave.

When police and an ambulance arrived on the scene, Riebel was declared dead.

The killer, later identified as 27-year-old Bethel Bekele, was apprehended in the 100 block of South Fifth Street, where he was sitting in a parked car near the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office. He was subsequently charged with murder.

The motive for the murder is still unknown.

Furthermore, it’s unclear if the victim and the murderer were just chance acquaintances or if the victim was in the wrong location at the wrong time.

The young lady who had only lately tied the knot with the love of her life is deeply missed by the entire town.

One of the neighborhood’s inhabitants stated, “It’s terrible to see something like this in Upper Sandusky, because it’s such a wonderful place.”

During these tough times for the family and Riebel’s husband, who has taken time off work to grieve, the victim’s aunt established a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses.

Riebel, a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources, had a lot of ideas. She and her husband had just begun their lives together and were looking forward to having a pet and starting a family, but it was all taken away in the blink of an eye.

Wynford Local Schools hailed Riebel as a “wonderful spirit with a faith-filled heart” when she graduated in 2019. She always had a wonderful smile and exuded excitement and positivity. Definitely one of a kind.

“The death of such a talented and promising young woman is incredibly tragic, and our hearts go out to her husband, family, and loved ones during this difficult time,” according to the GoFundMe page.

Rest in peace, wonderful soul. We pray that justice is done and that the killer receives the punishment he deserves: many years in prison.
