Many are “embarrassed” by Mark Wahlberg’s participation in the Super Bowl, and this is what they all say.

It’s no wonder that there is a lot to process in the aftermath of yesterday night’s Super Bowl. Along with the, to put it gently, dramatic on-field antics, there was the usual degree of intrigue that made headlines away from the pitch.

There was the usual onslaught of forthcoming movie trailers and bizarre advertising, Usher’s halftime show, and Taylor Swift watching her boyfriend Travis Kelce.

The highly anticipated Deadpool 3 video fell into the latter category, but it was a Mark Wahlberg advertising that really got people talking on the internet.

The fact that actor Mark Wahlberg is a devout and disciplined guy should come as no surprise.

The well-known Hollywood figure has already talked about the importance of God in his life and mentioned that the movie industry hasn’t found it to be all that popular. A year prior, Wahlberg said:

I don’t want to force my faith on anyone, but I also don’t deny it. That is a more serious offense.

“You know, even though my industry doesn’t embrace it, I can’t deny my faith. I believe that people need to be made aware of that. However, it’s equally important to respect and value my friends who come from different backgrounds and ideologies.

But many were confused and perhaps “embarrassed” by an advertisement starring Mark Wahlberg that aired during Sunday night’s Super Bowl in Nevada. The 52-year-old and Jonathan Roumie of TBN’s The Chosen teamed up to promote the Catholic app Hallow.

Wahlberg uttered the words, “God, we take this moment just to give You thanks,” in the advertisement.

Subsequently, a message projected onto the stadium’s expansive screen said, “Join over 100 million people in prayer during Super Bowl LVIII for the first-ever time.”

“The goal at Hallow has always been to reach out to as many people as possible, both those who take their faith seriously and especially those who may have fallen away, and invite them deeper into a relationship with God,” said Hallow co-founder and CEO Alex Jones in a press release before the commercial aired.

“We couldn’t have been more excited to work with Mark and Jonathan to use the Big Game this year as a chance to invite millions of people to pray when we learned about its timing.”

According to reports, the Hallow app has grown in popularity since its inception in 2018 and now allows users to pray on the fly.

On the other hand, a lot of individuals condemned Wahlberg’s participation in the advertisement online.

“Mark Wahlberg deserves our congratulations for making sure Ben Affleck didn’t make Boston look bad during the Super Bowl,” one commentator said.

Another reader stated, “Somehow, the Mark Wahlberg commercial is at the top of my list of the weirdest Super Bowl commercials to date.”

A third individual remarked, “Did I just hear Mark Wahlberg say ‘stay prayed up”?
