Former “General Hospital” cast member Denise Alexander honors her late co-star Jacklyn Zeman.
Denise Alexander is honoring Jacklyn Zeman, a fellow General Hospital cast member, who unexpectedly went away on May 9 after a brief battle with cancer. Less than two weeks after her last General Hospital episode, which aired on April 27, and three days after Zeman’s 70th birthday, she departed from this life.
“Oh girl, I keep hearing your laugh and crying, and I just can’t stop.” Your kindness, wit, intelligence, and beautiful goodness have always been appreciated and loved by me. The best hugs as well. I shall adore you forever. Denise,” Alexander penned in a succinct letter that Soap Hub initially made public on May 15.

Denise Alexander joined the cast of General Hospital in 1973 as Dr. Lesley Webber. It wasn’t until 1977 when Jacklyn Zeman joined the group as Nurse Bobbie Spencer. Denise and Jacklyn became close both on and off camera until Jacklyn’s tragic death on May 9.
Not every former cast member of Alexander paid tribute to Zeman. Anthony Geary, who portrayed the character Luke Spencer on the show, provided TVLine with an exclusive statement on May 11, just a few days after the star’s demise. Geary’s character was the big brother of Zeman’s character for almost 40 years.
She never once mentioned any actor, crew member, or colleague negatively in my ears. Jackie never once made fun of someone in front of me, in actuality. In a very competitive field where ego, sentiments, and emotions are vital, I’ve found this quality to be incredibly rare,” Geary stated.
Her death was initially disclosed by executive producer of soap operas Frank Valentini. He described her as “a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy to work” and stated that although she will be greatly missed, her positive outlook would live on.
Online tributes for the late actor Jacklyn Zeman started to flood in as word of his departure spread. Even on her worst days, the 70-year-old’s compassion and positive outlook were praised by her General Hospital TV family as they mourned her. Her legacy will be treasured forever.
“I’m grateful that I was able to spend so much time with this beautiful woman. Jackie had an infectious personality, an amazing life, and the best stories to share. Laura Wright, who played Zeman’s daughter Carly Spencer on the television series, wrote on Instagram that she had fun filming General Hospital.
Before Tamara Braun, who portrayed Carly, joined Tamara Braun in applauding Zeman, Wright assumed Carly’s role. “I don’t know what to say. I am beyond words upset and disturbed by this. Please accept my hug. Please join us in laughing. Recount tales. In a memorial post on Instagram, Braun urged others to “talk real talk because that’s what we did.”
It’s crucial to remember Sarah Joy Brown, the first actress to portray Zeman’s daughter on General Hospital. You are stunning on the inside as well, queen. I know that everyone who loved her is grieving. In a tribute on Twitter, she said, “My love to her girls, family, work fam, and admirers,” crediting Zeman for her success.
