Michael Chiarello, a famous chef, passes away at 61.

The head of the Chiarello family, Michael Chiarello, died.
The adored celebrity chef and TV personality died on Friday (Oct. 6), according to his restaurant firm (Gruppo Chiarello), after spending a week in the hospital receiving treatment for a severe allergic reaction that led to anaphylactic shock.
He was being treated at the Queen of the Valley Medical Centre in Napa, California, when he left at the age of 61. He was surrounded by friends and relatives. Chiarello is renowned for his superb culinary abilities and his ability to bring people from many backgrounds together through a shared love of food.

“We deeply mourn the loss of our beloved patriarch Michael,” his family said in a statement. “At the very core of his personality were his genius in the kitchen, boundless creativity, and steadfast devotion to his family. He created enduring memories around the table by bringing people together through the joy of shared meals.
In order to cope with this profound loss, his family has made the promise to “hold dear the moments we cherished with him, both in the kitchens and in our hearts.” They realise that his legacy (both in life and in his career) will “forever live on in the love he poured into every dish,” as would the love he put into each meal and the desire he instilled in each of us to taste life’s flavors.
Michael Chiarello is well known for his Italian-influenced California cuisine and was regularly featured on television. His Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello cooking show on the Food Network earned him an Emmy, in addition to hosting a popular culinary program on PBS, the Fine Living Network, and the gourmet Channel.

On Next Iron Chef, where he ended the fourth season as Rick Bayless’s runner-up, he was always a fan favorite. Chiarello has also served as an executive chef at a variety of eateries, including Caffe Museo in San Francisco, Ajax Tavern in Aspen, and Bisect in Scottsdale.
At the time of his death, Chiarello was the father of four children: three girls (Margaux, Felicia, and Giana) from a previous marriage, one male (Margaux, Felicia, and Giana), and an 18-year-old son named Aidan that he shared with his ex-wife Eileen Marie Gordon. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Chiarello and Gordon decided to file for divorce in 2019.

Following his passing, Gruppo Chiarello, the restaurant company Michael Chiarello founded, issued a statement that was nothing but compassionate. His “passion for food and life” will “forever be etched in our kitchens and hearts,” they continued, adding that they had chosen to pay tribute to his legacy.
They invited you to eat with your family and friends to serve as a reminder to us all that the bonds formed over a meal are among life’s most precious treasures. “In remembrance, we ask that you join us in celebrating his remarkable journey and the incredible impact he had on the world of food, wine, and family,” they said.

They also praised his eateries, Bottega, Coqueta (in San Francisco and the Napa Valley), and Ottimo, all of which will carry on their operations in his honor. He was loved by all for his ability to make Italian food delicious and enjoyable. His sudden death is nothing short of a tragedy for his family.
The Chiarello family is asking for donations to Meals on Wheels, a statewide network of 5,000 community-based programmes that combat elder hunger and isolation, in instead of flowers. May he forever rest in peace.
