Everything you need to know about Jason Barnum, the criminal whose black eye tattoo went viral

In Anchorage, Alaska, when Jason Barnum, then 37, approached the courtroom and entered a plea of guilty to shooting a police officer, it wasn’t the crime he did that everyone were talking about; rather, it was the tattoo that covered the white of his right eye.

Barnum gained the moniker “Eyeball” and rose to fame within a short period of time.

However, a rumor that he was the real son of one of America’s most adored performers surfaced as it was revealed that he had begun serving his lengthy term.

In 2012, Barnum opened fire on a cop when they broke into the hotel room he was sleeping in to look into a series of car break-ins and burglaries in the area south of Anchorage.

After shooting back at Barnum as they left the hotel, numerous additional police officers quickly joined in. Visitors were removed from the hotel by the police. SWAT personnel arrived on the site not long after.

The cop who was shot only suffered minor injuries, and Barnum was given a term of more than 20 years for his actions.

Jewelry and other valuables were discovered by the police in a rucksack in the hotel room. Later, it was discovered that Barnum had committed a string of crimes.

In search of cash to acquire heroin, he broke into homes and stole cars.

He was charged with two charges of criminal assault and one count of attempted murder, and his bail was set at $500,000. When questioned if he knew what he was accused with and if he needed a lawyer, he simply responded, “Sure, why not.”

Prior to his most recent offence, Barnum had been charged with and found guilty of 14 other offences, according to the police.

All eyes were on him when he entered the courtroom due to his unique appearance. Although he had tattoos all over his body, the one in his eye caught the most attention. His right eye’s white has a black tattoo on it.

Nowadays, it’s typical to see those kinds of tattoos, but in the past, they were really novel and rare.

Chief Mark Mew of the Anchorage Police Department told nearby media, “I believe Jason Barnum made the decision a long time ago that his life was about being antagonistic to people. He seems to want to hurt innocent people every day when he gets up, and he wants everyone to know it, in my opinion.

Barnum asserted that he was compelled to turn to crime as a result of his inability to get a job due to his tattoos.

During the court, Barnum stated, “I was living on the streets and wanted to acquire a job, but of course, my lovely looks didn’t enable me to do so.

He admitted that he was mostly to blame, but he also pointed the finger at the Alaska Department of Corrections for failing to assist him after he was released from prison in 2010. “I tried man, I’m sorry to the people this has hurt,”

Mark Mew, the police chief officer, addressed that issue before the sentence was delivered.

“I’m going to risk it all by stating the obvious. Please stare at Mr. Barnum for a moment. He said, “He has the right to express himself and do this to himself. Although we can’t jail him for that, I believe we may take into account a guy’s attitude and behavior.

Currently, not much is known about “Eyeball,” however it is claimed that he has been incarcerated at the Spring Creek Correctional Centre in Seward, Alaska, to complete his term.

There was speculation that Barnum might be the son of Hollywood actor Harrison Ford when the public took interest in him during his 2012 trial.

In a story headed “Harrison Ford has pretty much given up on his son” on Revcontent, the Indiana Jones actor was shown next to “Eyeball” Barnum.

However, it soon became clear that the rumor was completely false.
