Michael Drummond, 54, died on October 30th, 2021. Michael’s close friend Dan Dalton, on the other hand, declared in a social media eulogy that Michael “went fast and did not suffer.” How he died was never revealed.

Despite the fact that Ree Drummond’s sister Betsy also shared the news of Mike’s death on social media on November 2, Dan was the first to post about it.

The Food Network star paid tribute to her brother on Facebook a day later. Following Mike’s death, the cookbook author posted a statement on social media. Ree wrote the message for the next Wednesday: “Michael Smith, you were everything.”

“I won’t try to sum up the existence of someone as wonderfully beautiful as my brother Michael right now,” she said. He was my first and best friend, and I cherish the more than 50 years of images and memories he left behind when he was 17 months my senior.”

“Please pray for my parents, whose devotion to Mike was boundless, and who will feel this loss the most acutely,” added the 54-year-old.

Michael Smith, known as Mike to his friends and family, was Ree Drummond’s older brother and a Food Network celebrity. Ree and Mike were two of four children raised in Bartlesville by their parents. Michael, who had special needs, was well-liked in his hometown of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and was passionate about the work of local first responders.

After learning of his passing, the Washington County Emergency Management Agency wrote a eulogy for the 54-year-old, calling him a “legend and icon” who “will be sorely missed and always remembered.”

In a memorial, the Bartlesville Professional Firefighters Union said Michael was “one of a kind” and that “we are going to miss our friend Michael.”

Michael was also well-known to Ree’s readers as a consequence of his appearances on the Food Network’s The Pioneer Woman and frequent mentions in her blog posts. Following Mike’s death, Betsy, the younger brother’s sister, also made a statement on social media.

“We lost Michael, my beautiful brother, this last weekend,” she said on Instagram. He was unique, and his many fans will miss him. I’m grateful for his life, the relationships he formed, and his self-sufficient, fun-loving nature. I will always love you, Mikey
