A youthful Dustin Hoffman can be seen loving a set of legs showing a woman rolling on black silk stockings in one of the most well-known movie posters from the 1960s. The legs that draw the most attention in the movie are not those of Anne Bancroft in “The Graduate.” Owner Linda Grey is in charge.
Everyone assumed the famed pair of legs belonged to Anne Bancroft, but Linda Grey, a co-star on the CBS serial drama “Dallas,” admitted they were hers.
“They were all certain they belonged to Anne Bancroft.” She was either not consulted regarding the poster or was unable to attend because she was out of town at the time. I received $25. For one leg, that was more than enough.

The standard therapy for polio at the time was iron lungs, an 800-pound airtight metal ventilator. The physicians told her parents to put Linda in the metal canister even though the sickness had not damaged her lungs, as she relates in her book.
Her parents, however, opted to consult a different therapist. She might have endured considerably more severe harm to her lungs and arms if she had been forced into the iron lugs.
Treatment was “Raggedy Ann and Andy”. At the foot of the bed, the mother would stand, hold one leg, lift it, and then drop it once more. For months, she repeatedly performed the exercise on both legs.
After a few months, Linda was able to walk once more as her legs gradually improved. Her parents made the choice to enroll her in dance lessons. People flocked to watch her dance in her first recital since she was “the polio baby plucked from the womb.”
Due to family issues and her mother’s alcoholism, Linda wanted to get out of her home as soon as possible. She eventually quit school and started working as a model full-time to support herself. She quickly made friends with illustrious record album cover artist Ed Thrasher.
Throughout their 21-year marriage, Ed has been abusive and dishonest. In order to complete his “To-Do List” and avoid leaving the house to go to work, he abused his wife and insisted on keeping her at home.
Ed relied on Linda’s advertisements to make money at home so he could live out his cowboy fantasies. They worked together to build a house in Santa Clarita’s Canyon Country.
Cooking, housecleaning, taking care of the livestock they farmed together, and looking after their two kids were all on the farm wife’s list of things to do.
Linda made the decision to take back control of her life after ten years of doing what he did. Following her transgender acting debut on “All That Glitters,” she was given one of the most significant roles of her career—Sue Ellen in the venerable CBS soap opera “Dallas.”
