Just a few days before King Charles’ historic occasion, a key character’s wife passes away
Only a few days remain before King Charles as well as Queen Camilla are crowned. All of the senior royals have various roles to play in the months-long preparations for the historic occasion.
Prince Harry is not anticipated to be as involved, while some, like Prince George, will have more significant duties.
The coronation of the new king and queen will be celebrated by millions of people in the UK, but not everyone is fond of the monarchy. In fact, it’s been said that many people are angered by recent reports regarding the public oath of fealty that will be administered when Charles is crowned.
The coronation is obviously meant to be a cheerful and happy occasion. But with less than a week to go, a terrible tragedy has befallen the historic occasion.
For the first time since 1953, a king will be crowned in the United Kingdom. On Saturday, May 6, King Charles and Queen Camilla will be crowned at Westminster Abbey. Naturally, the weekend’s schedule is extremely busy.
Naturally, the planning for the coronation has been going on for quite some time. King Charles and the rest of the royal family regrettably learned of the tragedy two days before the wedding.
At the age of 68, Lady Elizabeth Kerr, Duchess of Buccleuch and wife of Richard Scott, Duke of Buccleuch, passed away suddenly.
At King Charles’ coronation, Scott was to take part in a ceremonial role by carrying the Sceptre and Cross. It wasn’t apparent at the time of writing if he would still take part.

The Sceptre has been used during the coronation of every British monarch since 1661; it was last seen during the late Queen’s funeral in September. In accordance with The Royal Collection Trust, it “represents the sovereign’s temporal power and is associated with good governance.”
According to her family, the Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry, Euzavetg Kerr, passed away following a brief illness. She wed Richard Scott in 1981, a man whose godmother was Princess Margaret.
Lady Elizabeth Kerr earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the London School of Economics. She continued to work at BBC Radio 4 and later BBC Radio Solway when she wed the Duke.
The Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction was later created by the Duchess and is awarded to aspiring authors.
