The actor who portrayed Dewey in “Malcolm in the Middle,” Eric Per Sullivan, is now an adult.

What a great show Malcolm in the Middle was. It made so many people laugh that we can’t help but get sentimental when we think about it. Each of the 151 episodes had an average audience of 15 million viewers when it initially debuted almost 21 years ago. Well, given how entertaining the show was, these figures shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Malcolm, a 14-year-old kid and the third of the family’s four boys, served as its focal point. With an IQ of 165, Malcolm was the sharpest person in the house, but the rest of his family didn’t quite get him.

The show’s creator, Linwood Boomer, said that his actual experiences served as his inspiration. The Los Angeles Times quoted Boomer as saying, “I was in the middle.” “We were filthy children. My mother said, “I’m not going to tell you [what] your IQ was, but it sure Hell wasn’t 165,” after she watched the pilot.

Although not everyone at Fox was thrilled about the notion of creating the series, Fox President Doug Herzog was. Because it was different from any other show on television at the time, he believed it had potential. He not only made the decision to try it, but he also heavily invested in its promotion. It turned out that his intuition regarding Malcolm in the Middle’s potential for success was accurate.

Many of the cast members were able to establish themselves thanks to the show. And among them were not only the young Frankie Muniz who played Malcolm but also Hal’s father Bryan Cranston, Francis’ older brother Christopher Masterson, Lois’ character Jane Frances Kaczmarek, and Dewey’s character Erik Per Sullivan.

Malcolm in the Middle garnered 33 Emmy nominations, won seven of them, and received seven Golden Globe nominations.

Some of the actors continued working on other film projects after the show ended, while others chose to explore other career options.

The series premiered while actor Eric Per Sullivan was just 9 years old. He was the star of every episode and frequently outperformed everyone else thanks to his superb performance. He tries to live a normal life today and tries to avoid the media.

Among the others, Eric appeared in the 2002 movie Unfaithful and Christmas With the Kranks after the series ended. He also provided voices for the animated films Arthur and the Invisibles and Finding Nemo. IMBD claims that he stopped acting after it.

Eric attended the Phillips Exeter Academy after transferring from Mount Saint Charles Academy in Rhode Island. Between 2009 and 2010, he pursued his education at the University of Southern California (USC).

We can all agree that Eric appears completely different today as compared to the Dewey he portrayed in recent photos. Despite being an adult, he hasn’t lost the charm that made him so beloved.

We sincerely hope that the actors will return for a sequel because Eric forged wonderful friendships with everyone on the set.
