What Happens When Your Nails Have A Half Moon Shape

Have you seen a white half-moon shape beginning at your nail beds when you examine your fingernails? It is, in fact, an essential part of the nail.

The Latin name for “little moon” is “lunula,” which refers to a little area that not only signals your health but also serves as a built-in design feature.

In Chinese medicine, lunula has traditionally served as a health indicator. In reality, the condition of your lunula says volumes about your overall health.

The existence or absence of a lunula can indicate a decline in your health. Additionally, after your health is recovered, your lunula returns to its original state.

According to medical specialists, eight to ten milky white lunulas on each hand suggest that you are in good health. The better the health, the whiter the lunula.

Check your levels of vitamin B-12 as well as iodine. Get your blood pressure and thyroid function checked. Finally, the lunula is considered a sign of overall health. Any change should be carefully reviewed and validated.
