A devastating loss for William and Harry. We mournfully report the death of a close family member.

Lord Robert Fellowes, 82, a man who Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana trusted, died.

As the uncle of Prince William and Prince Harry, he had a strong relationship with the British Royal Family. Fellowers married Lady Jane Spencer, sister of the late Princess Diana. The couple has 3 children: Laura, Eleanor, and Alexander.

Lord Fellowes served as the late Queen’s private secretary during the 1990s, a difficult period marked by Princess Diana’s divorce from then-Prince Charles. It also marked the end of Princess Anne’s marriage to Mark Phillips and Fergie’s marriage to Prince Andrew.

He was instrumental in managing the aftermath of the 1992 Windsor Castle fire, which destroyed 115 rooms.

Following Princess Diana’s tragic death in a car crash in the Pont de I’Alma tunnel in Paris, where she was trying to escape the paparazzi with her partner Dodi Fayed, the son of Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed, her driver Henri Paul, and her bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones, Lord Fellowes assumed the role.

After Diana Dodi Fayed passed away, Mohamed Al Fayed, the owner of Harrods and Dodi’s father, claimed that Fellowes had been complicit in a plot to murder the couple. Lord Fellowes angrily refuted these claims.

“My extraordinarily wonderful brother-in-law, Robert, is no longer with us.”

“A true gentleman in every sense of the word, he was a man of intelligence, wit, and unshakeable honesty. Being his brother-in-law gives me great pride.

Lord Fellowes’ father, Sir William “Billy” Fellowes, served as the Royal Family’s land agent at the Sandringham Estate for thirty years. Interestingly, Lord Fellowes was also born there. According to the Times, the late Queen Elizabeth said, “Robert is the only one of my private secretaries that I have held in my arms.”
