Shannen Doherty published a tragic social media post only days before her death.
Shannen Doherty’s death shocked the world, leaving many in despair. The 53-year-old charmed star had been battling cancer for the past seven years.
Before her sad death, she wrote a poignant post online.
Throughout her battle with the cancer, Doherty provided frequent updates on her health. In 2015, she revealed that she had aggressive breast cancer that had spread to at least one lymph node.
In 2020, she revealed the tragic news that she had been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, a severe stage in which the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.
In 2023, Doherty confirmed that the cancer had spread to her brain and bones, necessitating surgery to remove “nearly all” of the brain tumor.
In her farewell social media post, the actress posted a clip from the Let’s Be Clear podcast to her Instagram profile.
“So, you know, for the first time in I have no idea how long I’m going to be on chemo for I have no idea if it’s going to be, you know, three months or six months or if we’re going, you know, if it’s not working after three months if we’re going to change again,” he said in the video.
“I don’t know, that’s not something I can forecast. It is something my physicians cannot predict, and it is frightening.
“It’s like a massive wake-up call, but I also have to emphasize that there is some good news, which is that the molecular structure of my cancer cells has just changed.
“It implies that I have a lot more methods to try. So, for the first time in a few months, I’m probably feeling positive because there are so many more protocols.”
“Whereas before, I was hopeful, I was still getting ready.”
Leslie Sloane, Doherty’s friend and publicist, confirmed her death Friday, July 14.
“It is with sorrowful heart that I report the death of actress Shannen Doherty.
“She passed away on Saturday, July 13, after a long battle with cancer. Her loved ones, as well as her dog, Bowie, encircled the dedicated daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. The family requests privacy at this time so that they can grieve in peace.
We are deeply saddened for this tragic loss. May she rest peacefully.
