Tragically, an 18-year-old died weeks after falling at his high school graduation.

Sienna Stewart, an 18-year-old Hiram High School graduate, died mere weeks after falling during her graduation ceremony on May 23.

Despite suffering from severe cardiomyopathy and a recent heart failure diagnosis, Stewart was able to walk across the platform to get her diploma, a memory her family will cherish forever.

On the day of her graduation, Sienna fell and lost consciousness. Paramedics arrived quickly, and when the youngster recovered consciousness, she insisted on walking across the platform with tears in her eyes.

Sienna, who got a heart transplant ten years ago, has suffered from severe cardiomyopathy since the age of four and began “becoming unwell” early this year. After her transplant, she lived a relatively normal life for ten years, but she lately began “becoming weak and slowing down.”

Sienna’s mother, Saevon Chum, claimed that her daughter had episodes where she fainted, one of which occurred on her graduation day.

During the Sienna Falls incident, the high school principal was heard asking, “Please give us a second, we have a student, just give us a second…”

“When I arrived, the ambulance was already there,” the mother told Fox 5 Atlanta. “She’d slumped. She’d had another episode. But this was the first time she fell unconscious.”

After regaining consciousness, Sienna insisted on walking the stage rather than going to the hospital and urged her mother to allow her do so. She was the final student to get her diploma that day, and she earned a standing ovation from her classmates and others in attendance.

“All she could tell me was, ‘I just want to graduate and walk.'” That’s all she wanted, because she had previously missed her prom because she had been in the ICU and missed her senior prom,” Saevon said.

Unfortunately, Sienna died just a few weeks after graduating from high school. “As a mother, you’re so proud because she just got through something that injured her. You must be proud. “Until the end, I was proud,” Saevon stated.

Sienna’s obituary stated that she wanted to attend college and study ultrasound technology in the fall.

We are deeply saddened for this tragic loss. May she rest in peace.
