Terri- the toddler, who was engulfed in flames like a plastic doll, and who survived 90 percent burns, this is her now

In Ipswich, England, a home fire broke out; where a toddler of 18 months, Terri Calvesbert became a victim of it.

She survived the burns even though she was burnt 90 percent. A firefighter when saw her thought it was a plastic doll, because she was insanely engulfed in flames.

“I have never seen anybody with extreme burns to that degree. She was so badly burnt I could not extend her neck to resuscitate her, and her body was rock hard. No one was expecting Terri to survive.” said the firefighter in the Channel 5 Documentary.

“She was normally such a brilliant speaker, so I didn’t understand why she wouldn’t settle. I never smoked in the flat, but this one night I did. I don’t know why to this day I did such a stupid thing.” Terri’s mother told The Sun.

Julie (Terri’s mother) said that she left a cigarette in Terri’s room, she hoped she would fall asleep, but soon she heard her baby screaming and when she saw, her baby was caught on fire.

“I just panicked, I couldn’t see anything but smoke and flames, I dialed 911. I remember to the kitchen and getting a bowl and filling it with water and throwing it into the bedroom, but it made no difference. So many people said to me that I should have gone in there and got her. But I panicked,” Julie said.

“When it comes to that night in November, I kind of get a horrible feeling inside. But that’s the only time it affects me. What happened does stay with me, but I’m proud of myself for what I have achieved.” Terri said.

She was at the hospital for over 6 months as she had a very little chance at survival. More than 40 skin grafts were required for her survival.

Julie regretted doing this to Terri, so she left her to her father, Paul. It was her dad’s love which gave her a chance at survival.

Paul told people that, he wasn’t going to stop Terri from seeing her mother. They go to Julie’s mum house, so they can meet each other and talk without it interrupting Terri’s life with her dad.

Her dad said, “Terri is doing brilliantly at the moment, enjoying school and coping with everything, it’s nice to see her happy and settling in… Terri is a real inspiration and I am very, very proud.”

On 18 July, 2020, Terri married with the love of her life, she has a five-year-old daughter, Poppy-Mae.
