My favorite kind of television are crime dramas, and NCIS has to rank among the best in that category.
Despite being one of the longest-running series, it has been on air for 17 years and fans still continue to want more.
Abby Sciuto, a quirky forensic scientist who is portrayed by actress Pauley Perrette, is one of the characters that helped shape NCIS into what it is today. Before leaving the program in 2018, she had been a part of it for 15 years, leaving fans to wonder why she had made that choice.
Perrette has always had a passion for crime fiction, even going so far as to label herself “obsessed” with them. She grew up in several different states because her family changed homes frequently. She did live in Georgia between 1979 and 1981, though. Atlanta experienced cases of child homicide during that time.
“Even though I was quite young, I became intrigued with that case. I then developed a serious obsession with Jonestown. I would always take out every piece since I truly don’t like terrible guys, even though I was way too young to be preoccupied with these things.

Perrette was a top student who earned all As. At Valdosta State University, she majored in Sociology, Psychology, and Criminal Science. She eventually relocated to New York to attend the John Jay School of Criminal Science.
She was employed as a waiter in the interim, and her entry into acting came quite accidentally. Perrette assumed that was it when she overheard a client discussing how she received $3,000 to film a commercial one day while at work.

According to her, “I really wanted to make $3000,” she told Punk Globe. “There was a filmmaker who liked me and cast me in numerous music videos and advertisements. That was how it began. I majored in sociology, psychology, and criminal science during my undergrad. In essence, I was studying human behavior, which, strangely, has shown to be an excellent basis for actors in terms of developing and comprehending characters and their thoughts, feelings, and interactions.
Perrette starred in Frasier, The Drew Carey Show, That’s Life, and Almost Famous before securing the part that would define her career and alter the course of her life. Over time, NCIS experienced tremendous growth in popularity and accolades, with Abby becoming as a key figure.
She reportedly departed the program because of rumours that her friendship with co-star Mark Harmon had become “rather icy.” He once took his Pit Bull onto the scene, and the dog bit a staff worker, resulting in 15 stitches. And as if that weren’t bad enough, Harmon kept bringing his dog to the set, which Perrette thought was rude.
Other sources dispute Harmon’s claim that his dog was always leashed.
Perrette wrote on Twitter to bid farewell to Abby’s supporters:
For the remainder of this season and for everything Abby has given us all for the past 16 years, Perrette hoped that everyone would love and appreciate “EVERYTHING ABBY.” “All the affection, fun, and inspiration…I cherish her just as much as you do.
The actress remarked, “It makes me sad to imagine a world without Abby in it,” in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning. It genuinely depresses me. I’m still in mourning. Every day it feels different, and it’s depressing. On my way to work every day, I frequently cry in the car. I eventually start crying on the way home after that. I exhale deeply after that and say, “Alright.”
Although she continued to work with CBS, she declared that she would never return to NCIS. She returned to comedy, which she is really good at, and starred in the program Broke.
