Hilaria Baldwin makes the eagerly awaited announcement, but the name is the subject of great debate.
Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria had their seventh child on September 22. The pleased mother immediately let her followers know.
She’s here now! We are very happy to welcome you to our tiny dream come true, Hilaria said in a video she shared of the baby’s siblings meeting her for the first time.
Hilaria announced the good news and the baby’s name, which sparked discussion.
You might inquire why. Hilaria has come under fire ever since a video surfaced showing her shedding her Spanish accent. She supposedly didn’t truly consider herself a Spaniard at the time.
She said she was raised in Mallorka, Spain, and only travelled to the US when she was 19 to seek a degree. Others believe she attended school in the US far earlier than that, thus this may not be entirely true.
After tweeting, “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade-long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person,” user @lenirbriscoe shared videos of Hilaria speaking with a pronounced Spanish accent while discussing married life and appearing to forget the English word for cucumber on a cooking show.
This woman was raised in Massachusetts, the user wrote.
Despite this, when it was revealed that the youngest Baldwin shared the same Spanish name as her siblings—Ilaria Catalina Irena Baldwin—people were outraged.
“Why is it OK that she is trying so hard to speak Spanish? Why does she keep trying? Someone asked, “Have they allowed it to affect them so much?” Ilaria is a cheery name that originally meant “Hilary” in Italian.
Throughout her pregnancy, Hilaria often shared photos and information with her social media followers.
Hilaria remarked, “When others question or react, we frequently resort to absurd and incredibly self-deprecating humor on my part. I adore making fun of myself, so it’s good; it keeps me sane.
I’m grateful for this experience, she added, all kidding aside. Being a mother comes with both joy and grief, which I am all too familiar with. I’ve come to respect and cherish all aspect of this magnificent process, including the fantastic, the difficult, the disagreeable, the miraculous, and the unknowable, that I am so blessed to experience time and time again.
Alec replied, “You are a very special person, and my hope is that your children are as special as you.”
