After his son is labeled a monster, an Idaho dad turns to social media.
Bullying has long been a problem in schools, which are supposed to be a child’s safe haven. These organizations frequently choose to ignore the issue and reassure parents that something similar never occurs, which is obviously untrue. When they do take action against bullying, it doesn’t always help to solve the issue.
The truth is that bullying can have long-lasting impacts on the victim, such as a collapsed sense of self-worth and a later in life incapacity to socialize.
One parent, whose son was labelled “ugly” and “monster” by the other students, chose to stand up for his son, who had Treacher Collins syndrome.
Jackson Bezzant is practically deaf as a result of the condition’s impact on his hearing. The condition also results in distinctive anomalies of the head and face, including underdevelopment of the cheekbones, jaws, palate, and mouth.
In order to reconstruct his eye socket, Jackson was compelled to have surgery, and it is anticipated that he may need other surgeries in the future.
Despite being a caring and joyful child, he has experienced significant bullying at school. Random onlookers frequently make comments on the boy’s appearance while he is out with his father Dan, but Dan typically maintains his composure in these circumstances. Bullying at school was something he, however, was unable to tolerate.
One day, he found out that some lads approached his kid as he was eating lunch in the school cafeteria and began calling him derogatory insults. This torture continued for some time before a teacher saw what was happening and stepped in.
Dan’s heart has been broken. He made the decision to share his thoughts through a post on social media in the hopes that his comments would reach the parents of Jackson’s bullies because he realized he had to take action.
Dan opened his message by writing, “My heart is in pieces right now and my soul feels like its ripping from my chest,” according to People Magazine.
“This handsome young guy, my son Jackson, has to put up with a never-ending bombardment of ignorant remarks and insults. His classmates regularly refer to him as a monster, freak, and ugly. He mentions suicide while being under 8 years old!
Dan said, “He claims to have no friends and is despised by everyone. Children shove him and throw pebbles at him while yelling these abhorrent comments. Please take a moment to consider what you would do if this were your child. Spend a moment explaining to your kids about people with disabilities. Talk to them about empathy and loving one another.
Treacher Collins is the name of his illness, even research it. He has had several gruesome surgeries and will have more in the future,” Dan stated.
He continued by saying he doesn’t blame the school or the teachers because they work hard to stop bullying. However, he hopes that parents would read his letter and take something away from it.
“I hope parents who read my essay will know my pain. Please inform your youngsters that bullying is not acceptable. Share this, please. Nobody should be through this, Dan remarked.
Dan was surprised when other youngsters approached him shortly after the post went viral and expressed their desire to be Jackson’s buddies. Local parents of two other kids with Jackson’s condition have also contacted Dan, and the families are currently planning a playdate.
We are very relieved that the community did not ignore this father’s request. We sincerely hope that more parents would take the time to teach their kids that everyone deserves respect, regardless of their circumstances.
