Tomm Tennent: The unusual infant born with enough skin to cover the body of a child who is five years old.

When Tomm Tennent was born in South East Australia in 1993, not only did his parents and the medical community experience shock, but also pretty much the entire world. Everyone was curious about the boy’s future after hearing about his odd ailment, which left him with enough skin to cover a 5-year-old’s body.

No scan could have prepared Tomm’s parents for the severity of the disease, even though they were informed that their new baby would be different. Upon learning that their kid had a problem, they even thought about ending the pregnancy, but thankfully they decided against it.

Geoff Tennent, Tomm’s father, said in an interview with 60 Minutes Australia from back in 2003, “When he came out I was rather astonished. I didn’t believe a human, much less a little child, could possibly look like that.

His mother also recalled the first time she saw her son as a newborn. While picking him up and cuddling him was nice, she admitted that her heart was in her throat.

Tomm spent a lot of time in the hospital throughout the years—not because he was ill, but rather because doctors needed to assess his condition in order to figure out how to treat him. They had a difficult time figuring out what caused him to have so much extra skin because the literature had never previously described a case like his.

They were able to provide Tomm and his parents with some answers after conducting some research.

Particularly, observers saw similarities between Tomm’s appearance and that of the Chinese canine breed Shar Pei. They observed that Tomm’s skin contained 100 times more hyaluronic acid than normal, which is typical of Shar Pei puppies.

Doctors believed that Tomm’s levels would eventually decline because they know that puppies’ levels decrease as they age. They were accurate, too.

But before getting to that stage in his life, Tomm had some challenges. Aside from that, he was always a sweet kid who took pride in his appearance.

When questioned about his friends’ opinions on him, Tomm responded, “Not much, since they are my friends and they don’t really care how I look like. People occasionally compliment me on how I look, sometimes saying I look incredibly well, and other times saying nothing at all.

28 years have passed since Tomm and his dad spoke with 60 Minutes in 2003. Tomm appears entirely normal today; there is absolutely no extra skin.

Many people have wondered what Tomm looks like today even though his tale didn’t receive much media coverage when he was growing up, other from, of course, when he was born.

He is, in fact, blissfully married to Hannah, at least according to his Facebook.

“Life is easy. You make decisions and move on without looking back, Tomm wrote on his Facebook profile. We believe this remark captures his philosophy and entire life.
