‘Little People, Big World’ cast members are crushed by tragedy after losing close ones
When Little People, Big World first aired on TLC 15 years ago, it was a real breath of fresh air that caused many to reevaluate how they view and treat people with dwarfism. The Roloff family, the reality show’s stars, worked to increase awareness of others who suffer from their illness. As a result, many common assumptions about people with achondroplasia, a genetic disorder characterized mostly by dwarfism, are being vigorously contested.
Parents Amy and Matt Roloff have four children. Zach shares his parents’ dwarfism, whereas the other three children—Jeremy, Molly, and Jacob are all ordinary height.
The Roloffs’ lives have altered significantly since the first episode aired in 2006, which was a long time ago. Fans followed the kids as they grew up, attended college, and embarked on their own lives. With the exception of Zach, they all made the decision to move on from the show.
There have been many changes since we first met this lovely family. Tragically, they experienced catastrophes over time.
Matt recently lost his father. At the time of his death, Ronald James Roloff was 84 years old. Chronic lymphocytic leukemia caused his death.
“A sad week for the Roloff family. Yesterday evening, my dad, fondly referred to as “papa” by his 10 grandchildren and his 10 great grandchildren passed peacefully into eternal life with his Lord and Savior.
“Ron was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandfather who inspired a lot of people.
“Anyone who ever came into contact with him knew that he truly liked people! His devotion to Jesus was palpable both during his lifetime and in the hours before his death.
Josh Roloff, Matt’s brother, passed away in 1999 at the young age of 34. The Roloffs never forgot him, even though decades had gone since his untimely passing.
A fantastic son, brother, uncle, and friend who was with us in this life for far too little time, they even dedicated the book Little Family, Big Values to him. We all miss you and think about you frequently, and we eagerly anticipate meeting you again in the presence of our Lord.
Amy, who is now Matt’s ex-wife, began a new chapter in her life when she became engaged to Chris Marek. Sadly, she also lost her mother at about the same time.
“The previous two weeks were an emotional roller coaster mixed emotions. I’m overjoyed that Chris asked me to marry him,” she said.
“So sad because my sister told me the next day that my mother had passed away and a few days later my father told me she was in the hospital. She passed away on the 24th. My sadness overcame me, and my heart broke. I wasn’t sure what feelings to feel.
Jacob, the son of Matt and Amy, wed Isabel in 2019. Isabel lost her brother in a railway accident seven years earlier, but she vowed she would make sure her kids knew everything there was to know about their uncle. Additionally, Isabel lost her mother Toni Garreton to breast cancer in 2014.
