She was born on January 12th, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas, where she also completed both her high school and university education.

But she didn’t want to be in Kansas, and she didn’t realise that until she started doing drugs.

The late actress told Parade, in reference to those times, “The truth of how I escaped Kansas is being high. I was rendered insane by drugs. I climbed into my car and drove out to California.

I wouldn’t have been able to achieve my dream if I hadn’t been drugged out. It may sound silly, but it required some effort for me to get out of Wichita, Kansas.

“Now that there are reality programmes and other similar programming on TV, individuals undoubtedly feel a little more optimistic that they can succeed. However, thirty years ago, people simply thought, “How could I possibly dare to dream that I could go on to become a star? How could I have thought that?” You’re sort of humbled, and if you’re not, people will make you feel humbled by saying things like, “Well, who the heck do you think you are to travel to California and become a star? Come on, Kirstie, I mean,” she continued.

A tragic incident in which Alley’s mother died as a result of a drunk driver made her realise that she needed to change her life as she persisted in using narcotics. She subsequently underwent rehabilitation and joined the contentious Scientology cult.

Her big break came with the role of Rebecca Howe in the sitcom Cheers, for which she won a Golden Globe and an Emmy. Alley began landing roles in 1982.

Alley continued to star in major motion pictures, including Drop Dead Gorgeous, Veronica’s Closet, the Look Who’s Talking movies, David’s Mother, which earned her another Emmy, and many others.

She also appeared on Fat Actress and Dancing with the Stars.

The truth is that after receiving a Lyme disease diagnosis, Alley struggled with her weight.

Her difficult weight loss journey acted as an inspiration to many.

“I wouldn’t eat two cookies if I cooked them. I’d consume 12 cookies! And I seriously lost my way. I began consuming 12 grape drinks every day. I was eating an awful lot of sugar!” she exclaimed.

She did, however, succeed in losing a sizable amount of weight with the help of Jenny Craig’s diet plan. Many people believed Alley starved herself before joining the dancing competition, but the actress denies this is true.

Alley had two marriages. Together, she and her second husband, actor Parker Stevenson, adopted two kids: Lillie and William. In 1997, the couple got a divorce.

Alley stayed at home in Clearwater, Florida, throughout the final years of her life.

OK Magazine was told by a source that “She’s done with LA.” She has contentedly vanished into a peaceful existence in Clearwater, where she is also able to be more outspoken about her convictions.

According to a second person close to the late actress, “Kirstie hasn’t worked in over a year, and she’s comfortable with that.” She doesn’t intend to go back to Hollywood, either.

Parker Stevenson, her ex-husband, shared a heartfelt tribute to Alley on Instagram.
