‘Anxious’ According to an expert, Kate Middleton calmed Camilla down during the Remembrance Sunday service.
The annual Remembrance Sunday service, presided over by King Charles, was held in Britain this past weekend in remembrance of its military personnel and fallen soldiers. The new monarch, who appears more than prepared to fill his late mother’s shoes, has yet another duty on his list.
But because the King was the main attraction at the celebration, his wife Camilla and his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton came to the forefront of conversation.
In particular, the Queen Consort and the Princess of Wales were seen taking in the action from the balcony of the nearby Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office building.
In her honor, Camilla and Kate stood apart from each other rather than shoulder to shoulder, as they had done previously when they and the late Queen stood at the balcony.
The royals had three poppies pinned to their black coats.
The royal family’s every move was closely scrutinized by experts. One of them was Judy James, a body expert, who asserted Kate made the “anxious” Queen Consort aware of her presence with a considerate but unsettling gesture.
It seems that Camilla was nervous because she felt under pressure to attend the service for the first time as the Queen Consort. Fortunately, Kate was there to offer assistance.
“While observing from the balcony, Camilla exhibited both regal duties and some anxiety rituals. As her wreath was laid, she gave a quiet nod of recognition while standing next to Kate. Later, as they were leaving the balcony, she turned to face Kate and gave her a tender smile.
“As she walked ahead of Kate in her new role as Queen, Camilla smiled at her once more before nodding once more in acknowledgment. However, Camilla made other gestures that clearly expressed her anxiety. She appeared unable to remain completely still and spoke to Kate once while turning to face her rather than looking directly at her.
“Kate made a swift head turn out of respect and concern. Camilla’s nervous movements, which were most noticeable in the fluttering of her hymn sheet as her two hands fiddled with it throughout, contrasted with Kate’s calm and extremely still body language.
James asserted that even though Kate appeared relaxed, she actually felt stressed. Since Queen Elizabeth’s death, she and her husband have experienced major changes with their three children. They not only changed residences and enrolled their children in new schools, but their new positions also came with a great deal of responsibility.
During the service, the King himself struggled to control his tears.
“Charles appeared to be completely by himself and lost in thought as he stood at the Cenotaph. In remembrance of his mother and those killed in action, his mouth was pulled down at the corners, and his quick blinking suggested he was about to cry, according to James, who spoke to the Mirror.
“As they played the Last Post, there was even a micro-gesture of a limited spasm of the lips to show suppressed emotions.”
The coronation of Charles is scheduled for May 6. Camilla will then be formally proclaimed Queen Consort. However, the Palace might decide to drop Consort from her title and keep Queen only as her popularity among the populace increases.
The Telegraph reports that before her husband is crowned, Buckingham Palace may formally style Camilla as “Queen.”
