Mary-Kate Olsen says she and her twin sister felt like ‘little monkey performers’ and ceased performing completely.
The Olsen twins, Marry-Kate and Ashley, hit Hollywood by storm in the 1990s when they played the adorable Michelle Tanner on the sitcom Full House.
When their mother accompanied them to the audition, the producers had already decided on a set of twins for the legendary part, but one look at the adorable Olsens convinced them to select Marry-Kate and Ashley instead.
The girls would take turns portraying Michelle because it would have been too much labor for a single child to film for such many hours. The show ran from 1987 to 1955, and fans across the country and abroad fell in love with Michelle’s character so quickly that the girls became acting sensations.
Being so successful, they founded their own firm and became CEOs at the age of six, and by the age of ten, they were among the youngest self-made millionaires in history.
Unfortunately, the year the popular series Full House ended coincided with the end of the Olsen girls’ parents’ marriage. That disturbed the girls, and they attempted to distract themselves from what was going on at home by working on new projects and watching movies.
In their private lives, the girls were believed to be quite bashful. They were placed in separate classrooms at school because their parents and instructors believed they were overly reliant on one another and wanted to teach them how to operate independently.
When asked about their childhood, Mary-Kate stated that she would not want anyone to grow up the way she and her sister did. “When I look at old images of myself, I feel disconnected… In an interview with Marie Claire magazine, Mary-Kate said that she would never wish her childhood on anyone. She also mentioned how she believed the two were “little monkey performers” in front of the cameras.
Throughout their lengthy careers as actresses, the famous twins appeared in over 30 films and published music CDs, videos, and a series of books. The last film they starred in together was “New York Minute,” which received negative reviews from reviewers. Following that, the sisters stated that they would be leaving acting to pursue careers as fashion designers.

They currently run two clothing lines, “Elizabeth and James” and “The Row,” both of which are well-known and sought after around the world.
“If you want things to be flawless or beautiful, it takes a lot of labor,” Mary-Kate explained. “Nothing is easy. That is just how we were raised; that is what we believe is required to do things differently.”

People would expect me to be partying and doing all sorts of things. “It was very bizarre,” Elizabeth told the Daily Telegraph.
