Meghan “stole” the limelight from Queen Camilla.
In addition to navigating a world of customs and high expectations, a commoner marrying into royalty must also deal with particular difficulties and intensive public scrutiny.
Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton, and Queen Camilla are all familiar with this. But unlike Camilla and Kate, Meghan seemed to have broken under the weight of the press, which is one of the reasons she and Harry made the decision to resign from their royal positions and depart from the United Kingdom.
But what would have happened if Meghan had heeded Camilla’s counsel before tying the knot with the young prince? As a matter of fact, we can never know. What we do know is that, despite Meghan’s assertion that “not many people have asked if I am OK,” she received assistance from Camilla, who invited her to lunches and gave her crucial advice on how to deal with the pressures of becoming a royal.
A friend of the Duchess told the Daily Mail at the time, “Meg was really grateful to Camilla, who was very supportive & invited her out for private lunches, particularly around the time of her marriage.”
“She listened to her and understood how difficult it is to join the Royal Family after living an otherwise ‘regular’ life.
“Camilla, like Meghan Markle, had received a lot of negative press and antagonism from courtiers because of her friendship with Charles when he was still married to Diana.
“She was really attentive to Meghan Markle and offered her support, encouraging her to ride out the storm and that everything would be OK – but Meghan did not listen.”
Meghan Markle was not exempt from the British media. Her husband stood up for her, asking his father to fight the British tabloid publications.
“Meg, meantime, sought out to Camilla, who tried to counsel her by claiming this was simply what the press usually did to newcomers, that everything will pass in due time, that Camilla had been the bad person once.” ,Prince Harry wrote in Spare.
“The implication is what? Now it was Meg’s turn. “As if it were apples to apples.”
Despite Meghan’s positive relationship with Camilla at the time, Harry wrote that his father’s wife urged that he be made governor of a distant region, which was met with a negative response.
“Camilla also recommended to Meg that I become Governor General of Bermuda, which would solve all of our difficulties by removing us from the hot seat of the maelstrom,” Harry writes in his memoir.
“Correct, correct, I thought, and as an added bonus, that strategy would get us out of the picture.”
Since Megxit, the Sussexes have had few meetings with Camilla. Meghan only met her once, during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
If there will be any future encounters between the two is doubtful, especially now that Harry and Meghan have enraged the royals yet again with their excursions to Nigeria and Colombia, which resembled formal royal visits.
Meghan chose lovely ensembles on her Colombia trip, but one element stuck out as particularly noteworthy because it suggested that she draws substantial inspiration from Queen Camilla.
“She was wearing white and may have taken inspiration from Queen Camilla, who frequently wears white during engagements,” body language expert Darren Stanton said.
“The color white promotes positive energy and peacefulness while also making a statement. Meghan has demonstrated her self-assurance, competence, and ability to assert herself.”
Was the choice of white a tribute to Camilla? Who knows, but it is evident the two ladies adore this color.
Meghan wore white to the Afro Women and Power Panel in Colombia and felt “at ease,” Stanton claimed.
“We heard Meghan speak on the panel and she came across as calm and cool while remaining fully honest. Meghan has definitely given us the most honest and transparent display we have seen in quite some time. She maintains consistent body language and facial gestures throughout. We have seen Meghan’s very confident side, as she showed no symptoms of uncertainty or tension,” the body language expert added.
Stanton concluded, “Meghan feels comfortable on this stage. She speaks so frankly. When we evaluate her tone of voice, we see that it is steady, consistent, and low. It does not alter much, indicating that she is at peace.
