King Charles’ funeral preparations are being modified in light of cancer treatment – “It’s not good,” says one insider.
As King Charles battled cancer, little is known about his status, with reports from the Palace coming seldom.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that the monarch had been diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer following a regular operation for an enlarged prostate in January.
Since then, Charles has apparently split his time between London, where he is receiving treatment, and the royal estate of Sandringham, where he prefers to relax and heal.
How the King is doing in the midst of his health battle is an open question. Although the Palace was open and honest about his condition, they did not reveal what type of cancer he had or what stage he was in.
Worryingly, a report from the Daily Beast this week, echoed by TMZ, indicated that His Royal Highness is in poor health. They claim that, while Charles has appeared to be in good condition during his few public appearances since January, things aren’t going so well behind the scenes.
According to the Daily Beast, the King’s advisors are regularly changing his funeral plans. There’s also a code name for these plans: ‘Operation Menai Bridge’.
According to TMZ, a royal insider stated: “Of course, he is determined to conquer it, and they are throwing everything at it.” Everyone is optimistic, but he is actually quite ill. “More than they are letting on.”
Given Charles’ age and current health difficulties, it’s understandable that funeral arrangements are being considered, not to mention the fact that a monarch’s send-off is a lavish ceremony that requires lengthy planning in the first place. Even still, the fact that Charles’ treatment isn’t proceeding as planned is a disturbing consideration.
Earlier this month, other sources stated that Charles plans to welcome Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the UK later this year in order to spend more time with his grandkids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Given the tumultuous circumstances surrounding the King’s relationship with Prince Harry in recent years, as well as everything Harry and Meghan have said since moving to the United States, it should come as no surprise to many that Charles hasn’t seen nearly as much of Archie and Lilibet as he would have liked.
“I can imagine Charles desperately wanting to meet the children and giving an olive branch to Meghan and Harry,” a royal insider told Page Six. “He may conclude that life is simply too short. Balmoral is certainly the ideal, relaxing location for a reunion. If he does extend an invitation, Harry and Meghan will almost certainly accept it.”
