Teenage girl dies of cancer; when her mother stares at her coffin, her heart is flooded with warmth.
Laura Hillier of Ontario, Canada, was 13 years old when she was diagnosed with leukemia. She was certified cancer-free following intense treatments, but her and her family’s joy was short-lived, as the disease returned four years later.
On January 20, 2016, this young and wonderful soul died of cancer, which was heartbreaking.
Her family broke the tragic news on social media, using a Facebook page dedicated to Laura’s growth and hardships while she was still alive.
“She fought bravely, and you would all have been quite proud of her. “Her poise, courage, strength, and pure soul shone through to the very last,” her family said.
They covered her casket with letters expressing their gratitude, love, and sorrow over her loss.
Their intention was that Laura receive a heartfelt farewell worthy of a cherished friend and student.
Not only did her classmates and teachers leave condolences on her casket, but so did her relatives, neighbors, and even the medical personnel.
One of the messages said, “You were musical.” You were artistic. You were understanding. “You were my best friend.” Another said, “Very bold and strong. “You’ll always be a hero.
Laura’s favorite color, purple, was on show in the chapel and on people’s attire.
Unfortunately, Laura passed away, but the outpouring of affection from her community was uplifting to witness.
