The Royal Family Is Mourning—Prayers Sent Their Way

We regret to inform you that Captain Ian Farquhar, a dear friend of the king, has died. At 78 years old, his presence in the royal circle will be greatly missed.

Ian had the honor of knowing the King and Queen Camilla for many years as well as worked as a rider for the Queen Mother. He also served in the Queen’s Own Hussars, where he excelled at horseback riding and hunting.

This is another heartbreaking blow to the King, who is already battling cancer. Last week, we mourned the death of Lord Rothschild, who was 87.

A Fond Memory with Prince William.

Rose Farquhar, Ian’s daughter, recalled a nice recollection from 2000: she spent time with Prince William during his school break. They shared a picnic in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, creating precious memories together.

Ian had been renting a farmhouse in King’s Highgrove, Gloucestershire, for quite some time. Stephen Parker Bowles, who was previously married to King Charles II’s first wife, told the Daily Mail that Ian had been suffering illness for some years.

Andy notified us early Wednesday morning that Ian had died at Highgrove. He warmly remembered Ian as someone who enjoyed life to the fullest, calling him “as wild as a hawk when he was young, but always a lot of fun.”

Remembering the Great Master of Hounds

Ian will go down in history as a brilliant Master of Hounds. For an astonishing 34 years, he maintained this prestigious position in the Beaufort Hunt.

The Beaufort Hunt shared their sincere condolences on Instagram for the loss of their esteemed leader. Captain Ian Farquhar was a pleasure to have as their pilot over the years. He died quietly this week.

Many who were fortunate enough to accompany him on hunts maintained high regard for him, lovingly referring to him as “Captain.” He was not only nice and helpful, but also full of inventive ideas.

“He had a tremendous sense of humor, and those who were fortunate enough to spend time with him will remember his thrilling and distinctive life as a hunter and in the army.”

Captain Farquhar loved his family, his dogs, and, above all, his hounds. When he arrives beyond the great beyond, a slew of eager dogs will undoubtedly welcome him, anxious to see their beloved captain again.

“A wonderful gentleman who cherished his nation.” Captain Ian Farquhar will be dearly missed.
