Jimmy Kimmel explains that Billy, his 7-year-old son, underwent his third open heart surgery; the comedian offers a poignant statement
Jimmy Kimmel has been open about the health challenges that his seven-year-old son has had since his birth in 2017. The comedian recently revealed that his child needed extensive surgery for the third time in his life. Read on to discover more about this upgrade.
Jimmy Kimmel shared a personal story about himself on Instagram on Monday. He shared a snapshot of his seven-year-old smiling in a hospital ward and updated his followers on what had happened.
“Our boy Billy had his third (of three, we hope) open heart surgery this past weekend,” said the writer. The pleased father stated, “We went into this journey with a lot of hope and almost as much dread, and we came out with a new valve inside an excited, healthy kid.
In the caption, Kimmel praised Billy’s surgeon and the rest of the medical personnel at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where his son got treatment and surgery. The host of a late-night talk show discussed how meeting the other hospital parents affected both him personally and the other parents.
He thanked his wife, family, & friends for their support in the face of struggle, as well as the medical experts.

He went on to say, “Thanks to our friends and family for supporting us to an extremely ridiculous extent, and thanks for all the kind strangers who took the time to pray for and give positive energy to our baby.” “I’d like to express my appreciation to my wife Molly for being a stronger mother than is realistic.” Kimmel ended his caption with a heartfelt message to his young kid.
“And, Billy, you are the bravest and funniest 7-year-old we know,” the author continued. “So many parents and kids aren’t fortunate enough to go home after five days,” he said.
The most essential thing is to take care of one another. With gratitude and love, Jimmy.
Many of Kimmel’s well-known pals expressed their admiration for him in response to the comments. “We love you, Billy,” Carson Daly exclaimed. “Sending love to Billy,” Andy Cohen went on. In a heartfelt address from 2017, Kimmel disclosed that his infant had a congenital cardiac condition.
Kimmel has continued to express gratitude to everyone who has contributed to his son’s medical care since the boy’s birth even after the speech went viral. In addition to sending an emotional message to celebrate his son’s seventh birthday in April, he updated his supporters on the little boy’s health.
“Thanks to the doctors, therapists, nurses, as well as staff at @ChildrensLA & @CedarsSinai, Billy is doing great as he turns 7 today,” the photo’s caption read. Billy adds, ‘I’m seven, so please give $7 to help children in the hospital.'” His goal is “to raise $100 to help sick kids” (he also wants a spy kit).
With a close-up of Billy smiling, he said, “This boy is 7 years old because of you.” “Your kind words and generous donations to @childrensla have overwhelmed Molly and me. I sincerely appreciate all of your love. We wish you and your family well and a lifetime of lovely friendships. Jane, a daughter of Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearney, is nine years old. Furthermore, he is the father of two children from his previous marriage to Gina Maddy.
