Elton John Says Farewell to Touring After 50 Years on the Road.

After an astonishing 52-year career, Elton John has announced his retirement from touring. The music veteran, now 76, gave his farewell show at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.

As he ended his act with passionate versions of “Your Song” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” Elton thanked the crowd for their continuous support throughout the years.

Elton praised his fans’ contributions to his achievement, adding, “If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be sitting here talking to you. You bought the singles, albums, CDs, and cassettes, but most importantly, you purchased concert tickets, and you know how much I like performing live.”

Following the show, the 5 time Grammy winner issued a message thanking his followers. He conveyed his heartfelt gratitude for their ongoing support, underlining that they had been with him each step of the way.

Elton reflected on the importance of the night, admitting that he would need some time to properly absorb the truth of his retirement. He said, “I can’t tell you how much I’m going to miss the fans, or how much their love has humbled me; it will live on in my heart forever.”

Chris Martin, the main singer of Coldplay, who was also playing in Sweden, sent Elton a heartfelt message during the last show.

“Elton, we just wanna say, from all of us here, from all the bands and musicians that you’ve loved, inspired, and helped, we just love you so much,” Chris said, expressing the love and adoration that the music community has for him. We will really miss you and wish you a happy retirement, buddy.

As the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour concluded, Elton took to Instagram to reminisce on the fantastic adventure. He thanked his supporters, adding, “What a journey this tour has been, and now we find ourselves at the conclusion of it.” Tonight is the last night.”

While Elton will no longer be touring, he and his management have confirmed that fans may expect to see him perform in some manner in the coming years.

David Furnish, Elton’s spouse and manager, stressed that, while Elton will not be touring, there may be exceptional one-time events or brief residencies in certain locations.

Though Elton John’s touring days are over, the influence of his music and the experiences he shared with his fans will live on for years.
