Drew Carey will never leave his ‘Price is Right’ hosting post. “I want to die onstage.”
Drew Carey, the game show host, has been in charge of ‘Price is Right’ since 2007.’
Drew Carey came down, and he is never going back.
The host of “The Price Is Right” acknowledged that his employment on the game show is the ultimate profession, and if he has a say in his future, he will not be leaving anytime soon.
“I want to die onstage with a microphone in my hand,” Carey told Entertainment Tonight.
Following Bob Barker’s retirement from leading the longest-running game show in television history that same year, Carey began hosting “The Price is Right” in October 2007. In 1972, Barker started presenting the show “The Price is Right”.
Carey was open about the late game show host, who lost his battle with Alzheimer’s in August of 2023.
Carey remarked, “I believe Bob made a mistake by retiring.” “I promise not to repeat that error. I believe I will participate in “The Price is Right” as long as my heart is racing and they want me to be on the show. I simply adore it.”
He went on to say, “I think I was made for it.”
Carey was asked whether he had any advice for Ryan Seacrest, a rookie to the game show circuit. Following Pat Sajack’s resignation from “Wheel of Fortune,” the host of “American Idol” will take over responsibilities.
“Do I have any advice for the billionaire Ryan Seacrest?” Who always hosts everything? No,” he replied with a laugh.
“Bro, I believe you’ve got it. I believe you know what to do. I think you know how to host events. Do not worry about it. “You are going to be fine.”
Despite nine years of success presenting the “Drew Carey Show,” Carey was hesitant to take over for Barker and first declined the opportunity to host.
“If you think I’m going to sit at ‘The Price Is Right’ so everyone can take potshots at me, forget it,” he told CBS News at the time.
After a few discussions with friends and family, Carey agreed to take the job and has since been hosting “The Price Is Right.” He’s also continued to sign out the show with Barker’s iconic tagline, “Have your pets spayed or neutered.”
“It’s tradition,” Carey told CBS News in 2007. “It’s been here the whole time. “I do not want to get rid of that.”
