Since Kevin Costner has always talked positively about his now-ex-wife Christine Baumgartner, the news that they were divorcing after 19 years of marriage surprised both the actor and the couple’s supporters.
People close to the pair, however, claim that Christine, the one who initiated the divorce warned her husband that if he continued to be away from home on business, she would abandon him.
Baumgartner claimed that Costner’s absence was “hard” and that he wished he had spent more time at home in Santa Barbara with his family.
“Christine is against him devoting himself to yet another endeavor. Since last year, he has been filming Horizon nonstop. She wasn’t pleased with it, according to a source.
Another insider said, “His career has sometimes taken precedence over his home life.”
The success and enthusiasm he felt for the new endeavor likely distracted him from his family to a greater extent than he realized. There was strain at home because it didn’t seem like it would change and probably could become worse,” the insider continued.

“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond Mr. Costner’s control have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,” an actor’s representative said in a statement. Christine claimed “irreconcilable differences.”
“We request that during this trying time, the privacy of him, Christine, and their children be respected.”
In order to pay child support to their 3 children, Cayden Wyatt, 15, Hayes Logan, 14, and Grace Avery, 13, Baumgartner was requesting $161,000 per month.
Baumgartner went to court to try and secure this money, but his supporters believe Costner prevailed, even though the actor claimed there were “no winners” in the bloody struggle.
In particular, Baumgartner’s child support payments were reduced by a Santa Barbara judge to $63,000 per month, which is significantly less than the $161,000 she requested and less than half of the $129,000 she presently receives.
“You know, there’s never a winner when you spend that much time with someone because it’s this enormous, bizarre thing called life and how swiftly everything falls apart,” the actor stated to Fox News Digital.
“You feel like you’re on top of the world one minute, and then you realize how vulnerable you are,” he continued.
But after going through a difficult time, it appears that the Yellowstone star has found new love.
Rumours have said that Costner is in a relationship with singer Jewel.
Recently, the two were spotted together at a tennis tournament for the Inspiring Children Foundation held on Necker Island, the estate of Richard Branson.
The two flew to the Caribbean and spent almost a week together, according to TMZ.
The magazine was informed by an insider that “there was definitely something going on,” indicating that the couple did, in fact, take a holiday in the Caribbean together.
When Jewel mentioned Costner on social media, she went over and beyond. Regarding the tennis fundraiser held on Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, she said, “It’s an incredible time, and one I use to relax, rest, and play with my son!” @kevincostnermodernwest was so kind as to guide our children this year.
Jewel is “picky,” a source told TMZ, and “she wants a good man, and Kevin fits the bill,” the magazine said.
