Princess Charlotte’s ‘Granny Diana’ Mother’s Day words regarding Prince William were heartbreaking.
The lives of the British royals have long been fascinating. There have been instances when all eyes were on them, such as when the affair between then-prince Charles and Camilla was uncovered, Princess Diana’s terrible death, and Megxit, to mention a few.
When it comes to the public’s fascination with one of the world’s most powerful families, the royal children are no exception.
Take, for example, Princess Charlotte. She is the Prince and Princess of Wales’ only daughter and their second child.
“From what I hear, the Prince and Princess of Wales want Charlotte, aged 7 to grow up with the expectation that she will get a job and not be a full-time royal,” royal analyst Richard Eden told the Mirror.
“This path for the young Princess would be in keeping with her grandfather, King Charles III’s, vision of a slimmed-down monarchy.”
Charlotte wore a crown for the first time on the day of her grandfather’s coronation. You may be wondering why. That’s because royals aren’t allowed to wear crowns until they’re married, which applied to both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. There have, of course, been exceptions in the past. Before marrying Mark Phillips, Princess Anne donned tiaras on occasion.
“Expect Charlotte to wear a dainty coronet [small crown] – perhaps even the one the late Queen wore to her father’s coronation aged 10 – and the two brothers to wear frock coats and breeches,” historian Tessa Dunlop told the Mirror.
“Kate enjoys dressing up her children, so opposition is unlikely.” Everyone will want a photo of the three siblings in their finery alongside the King and Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony after the service.”
To demonstrate how exceptional and devoted Charlotte is, Prince William and Princess Kate shared some of their children’s Mother’s Day cards from past years. The children, on the other hand, wrote cards not only for their mother, but also for their late grandma, Princess Diana.
“Dear Granny Diana, I am thinking of you on Mother’s Day,” Charlotte wrote on the back of her card. “I adore you to pieces. Papa is longing for you. Many thanks, Charlotte.”
In the meantime, George wrote, “Dear Granny Diana, Mother’s Day greetings. I adore you and think of you constantly, sending tons of love from George.”
Louis, who was just two at the time, sketched some animals and pasted them on the cards.
William has already spoken openly about his mother and described how he speaks honestly about her in front of his children. “We’ve got more photos of her up around the house now, and we talk about her a little bit and stuff.”
“It’s difficult because, obviously, [Kate] didn’t know her, so she can’t really provide that level of detail,” he said in a BBC program in 2017.
“So, I do regularly, before putting George or Charlotte to bed, talk about her and just try to remind them that there are two grandmothers, that there were two grandmothers in their lives, and so it’s important that they know who she was and that she existed,” William continued.
We am delighted that the children royals will learn how precious and cherished their late grandmother was.
