The woman who had a horrible stomach ache and went to the emergency department

When he had to remove the staggering 11,950 gallstones from a patient, an Indian doctor believes he was in the height of his professional potential. Yes, it could break a world record.

A woman visited the hospital after suffering from terrible stomach discomfort. The doctor started carefully inspecting her to figure out the issue, but he was actually shocked.

For more than two months, Mondal has had a constant stomach ache. After she was taken to the hospital, the doctors found she had serious gallstone issues.

Minati Mondal, 51, underwent a historic treatment to have the gall bladder stones removed by gastrointestinal endosurgeon Dr. Makhan Lala Saha.

Dr. Saha, who performed the woman’s operation, stated that although though he expected to find many stones, he was shocked to learn that there were actually more than 5,000 of them. After the treatment, which lasted about an hour, the nurses counted the removed stones, which had sizes ranging from 2mm to 5mm, for more than four hours.

This number of stones might break a global record. The doctor claimed to have done more study and found that the only figure that came close was 3,110 stones removed from a German patient’s gall bladder in the UK in 1983.

However, the doctor believes that he has significantly surpassed this number.

Mondal went home to recover from surgery after being released.

Small stones called gallstones, which occur in the gallbladder, are frequently made of cholesterol. One in ten patients are affected by them, however they normally do not need treatment and exhibit no symptoms.
