A close friend of Queen Elizabeth recalls the sad events that occurred during the late monarch’s final days.
With the passing of Queen Elizabeth, the world was in mourning. Even while not everyone considers themselves to be royal supporters, the majority of people thought highly of the late Queen. She governed for nearly 70 years, and Prince Philip and she have subsequently made up.
Soon after the Queen passed away in Balmoral, rumours about her cause of death began to spread. An informant even alleged that the late Queen had bone cancer, though Buckingham Palace has not acknowledged it.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, a close friend of Queen Elizabeth has revealed new details on her dying days.
On September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth, who ruled for more than 70 years, died at the age of 96.
Following the State Funeral at Westminster Abbey, Queen Elizabeth’s remains was taken in procession to Wellington Arch.
From Wellington Arch, the casket was brought to Windsor. The hearse then made its way in Procession down the Long Walk to Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel. In St. George’s Chapel, another funeral service took place.
The choir played music during the funeral service at St. George’s Chapel. Prior to the singing of the “final hymn,” Queen Elizabeth’s imperial state crown, the orb, and the Sceptre were removed from her coffin and placed on the altar.
The Grenadier Guards Company Camp Color was placed with the casket of King Charles’ mother before the Lord Chamberlain broke his Wand of Office and set it aside.
The guests chanted God Save the King as Her Majesty’s casket was lowered into the Royal Vault. Charles tried to hold back his tears as he began to cry. Later that evening, a simple, private funeral service without cameras was attended by only the immediate family members.
The Queen is currently buried in Windsor Castle’s King George VI Memorial Chapel beside her parents, sister Princess Margaret, and husband Phillip.
After Philip’s death, his coffin was interred in the royal crypt beneath St. George’s Chapel. Visitors were once more invited to pay their respects at the King George VI Memorial Chapel a few weeks after the funeral. He later moved there to be with Elizabeth.
The British government spent an estimated $200 million on Queen Elizabeth’s burial and lying-in-state, according to AP. The funeral was the nation’s first since the state funeral for former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in 1965.
Before the burial, thousands of people came to pay their respects at Westminster Hall in London to see Queen Elizabeth lie in state.
The expenses were disclosed in a formal submission to Parliament.
John Glen, the chief secretary to the Treasury, stated that “the government’s priorities were that these events ran smoothly and with the appropriate level of dignity, while at all times ensuring the safety and security of the public.”
For several weeks following the funeral, the specifics of Queen Elizabeth’s cause of death were kept a secret. The Daily Mail reported that a Scottish government department had been accused of being secretive and obstructing legitimate attempts to obtain a copy of Her Majesty’s death certificate, despite the fact that many people thought it should be a matter of public record.
The National Records of Scotland (NRS), despite efforts by MailOnline and other media organizations to obtain the information from the NRS, “has forbidden its staff from giving any facts connected to the Queen’s death on September 8,” according to the Daily Mail.
In the latter part of September, the official cause of death was revealed. Queen Elizabeth’s death was merely attributed to “old age,” with no other explanation provided.
The National Records of Scotland’s Chief Executive, Paul Lowe, acknowledged that her death had been reported on September 16 in Aberdeen shire.
