When his mother is eight months pregnant, the toddler kills her.
When Laura Ilg’s two-year-old son inadvertently discharged her husband Alek Ilg’s rifle in Ohio, the pregnant mother, who was eight months along, lost her life. The incident occurred in the family’s home, as Laura called 911 in a panic and begged for assistance.
Following the emergency call, Norwalk police were forced to enter the Ilg residence. They found Laura and her little child in a bedroom upstairs, both of whom were badly injured.
As soon as possible, she was given medical attention and taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Centre. Unfortunately, despite the greatest efforts of the medical staff, Laura’s unborn child could not be rescued. A few hours later, Laura succumbed to her injuries.
Police Chief David Smith asserted that the gun, which was customarily kept on a nightstand next to the couple’s bed, belonged to Laura’s husband. The property had several baby gates installed to prevent the child from wandering about unaccompanied, according to Laura, who revealed to the authorities in her last moments that the bedroom door was typically shut.
One of the baby gates that was inadvertently left open is likely to have allowed the toddler access to the bedroom. Laura told the police that while she was doing the wash, her child broke into the bedroom and began playing with the gun. When she was fatally shot, she was unaware that her son had the pistol.
Following this tragic event, Laura’s husband, Alek Ilg, wrote a touching tribute to his wife and their unborn child on Facebook. He expressed his profound sadness and anguish over the loss. The couple’s young child is now in his father’s custody, who is inconsolable.
