Many people were interested in the baby’s name. They decided on the name Lilibet Diana in an effort to pay homage to both Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana.
Before she was born, the couple reportedly stated that it would be extremely unlikely for their daughter to be named after her late grandmother, late princess Diana. They did this because they thought the name would not only come with a responsibility but would also “increase the public interest in the child’s life,” according to a source cited by Page Six. Diana may serve as the second child of Harry and Meghan’s second kid, according to the source.
The Queen’s childhood nickname was Lilibet. She reportedly used to say her name that way when she was quite little, and her grandpa, King George V, called her that all of his life. Prince Philip also referred to his queen by this moniker.
The Duke of Edinburgh reportedly said in a letter to his mother soon after he wed Queen Elizabeth: “Lilibet is the only ‘thing’ in the world which is absolutely real to me.”
The name Harry and Meghan chose for their daughter, though, has drawn criticism from many individuals as well as from royal experts and biographers.
Richard Kay, a royal analyst, is one of several who criticized the couple for their choice of name. He claimed that Harry and Meghan went too far by naming the child Lilibet in a commentary for the Daily Mail.

Angela Levin and other royal analysts and biographers asserted that the Queen herself wasn’t enthused with the naming of her 11th great-grandchild.
In his most recent book Guilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, royal novelist Tom Quinn raised the issue of the choosing of the name Lilibet.
Given that Harry should have known better, Quinn is persuaded that it is “beyond belief” that he was unable to foresee potential problems before naming his daughter after Queen Elizabeth.
In contrast to calling their daughter Elizabeth, “[Harry] surely would have known that appropriating the monarch’s beloved childhood nickname would be perceived by many as disrespectful and intrusive,” Quinn said in his book.
Quinn thinks the couple’s action was “cynical,” as he claims they did it in an effort to raise their “royal currency.”
“Meghan Markle would never have thought naming her daughter Lilibet was anything other than a huge compliment; in the UK, it appears to be an impertinence, and this is emblematic of many of Meghan’s difficulties,” he continued.
