Legendary rock and roll singer Tina Turner passes away at age 83.
After a protracted illness, SINGER TINA TURNER passed away at the age of 83, according to her spokesperson.
Turner was renowned for her electrifying stage performances as well as singles like Proud Mary and What’s Love Got to Do with It.
In 2008, she ended her touring career.
The American-Swiss singer, whose career spanned more than 60 years, was born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee. She has a star on both the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the St. Louis Walk of Fame.
What’s Love Got to do with it, based on her autobiography I, Tina, dramatized the mother-of-two’s infamously tumultuous relationship with Ike Turner. Angela Bassett received an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Tina in the biopic.
Turner, dubbed the “Queen of Rock and Roll,” married her longtime German love, music executive Erwin Bach, in a civil wedding in Switzerland in 2013 and has been residing there with him since 1994.
The musician, who was previously wed to musician Ike from 1962 to 1978, was now married for a second time.
The singer detailed a horrifying account of violence in her 1986 autobiography, including how she smashed her nose while still married to Ike.
Ike passed away in December 2007, and Tina is aware of it, her spokesman was cited as saying at the time. In the past 35 years, she hasn’t spoken to him at all. No more remarks will be made.
Her health had declined recently; she received a diagnosis of intestinal cancer in 2016 and underwent kidney transplantation in 2017.
