When Archie & Lilibet’s title was announced, King Charles left out a critical term
The royal titles of prince and princess have been bestowed upon Archie and Lilibet, the children of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle. In response to their parents’ insistence that it was their “birthright,” Buckingham Palace quickly updated the status on its website.
Archie and Lilibet were given their new titles at the same time, but King Charles also announced that another member of the Royal Family was gaining a new title.
Prince Edward is officially the Duke of Edinburgh, yet one royal expert was concerned about how the news was announced.
According to Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, the announcement itself was indicative of how the Palace actually feels for Archie and Lilibet as well as their parents, Prince Harry and Meghan. One notable difference stands out in particular.
When Prince Harry and Meghan left the life of monarchy behind, they did not renounce their royal titles. His 2 children Archie & Lilibet are currently sixth and seventh in line, respectively, behind the prince, who is still a steadfast heir.
The two Sussex children were named on the early succession chart as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor. But since then, there has been a huge alteration that might offer an indication as to what the future may hold.
The Rev. John Taylor, Archbishop of Los Angeles, baptized Lilibet Diana a few weeks ago. She will turn two in June. She has been renamed Princess Lilibet Diana because Harry and Meghan believe it is her “birthright” to hold the title of royalty.

According to a story in the Mirror, 20 to 30 guests attended the private christening at the Sussexes’ house in Montecito, California.
The children were born into their titles when their grandfather assumed the throne. This issue has been handled for some time, according to Buckingham Palace, a couple spokesman said.
The Royal Family website now refers to Archie and Lilibet as Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex. They are using their royal titles in public for the first time.
At Prince Philip’s passing in 2021, Charles was given the title. Yet as soon as he was crowned king, it returned to supporting the Monarchy. The position of Duke of Edinburgh was then open, and Charles nominated Prince Edward for the position.
As was already known, Charles also gave his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet new royal titles, but it’s likely that the monarch feels differently about them. At least that is what royal scholar and Majesty magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward learned while looking into how King Charles announced the new royal titles.
Instead of making a lengthy announcement revealing Archie and Lilibet’s titles, the Palace chose to quietly update them on the Royal Family website. According to Seward, the differences in the announcements were “stark,” and Prince Edward’s announcement benefited from significantly more exposure.
Seward told the Mirror that the difference between how King Charles announced his brother’s ennoblement and how Harry and Meghan announced the news of their children’s royal titles was “startling.”
The royal expert said, “King Charles, who officially announced his choice from Buckingham Palace, gave the Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Forfar the Dukedom of Edinburgh.
Because of its size, the message gave the impression of being pinned to the Buckingham Castle walls in a golden frame.
Seward concluded by saying that Harry and Meghan wanted their spokesperson to say that their 21-month-old daughter Lilibet would be baptized in a royal manner. The princely style would then become Archie’s own.
