After receiving the tragic prostate cancer diagnosis in 2017, he made the decision to take things more slowly in order to focus on his family. The well-known musician and entertainer chose surgery over chemotherapy in order to stop the spread of his disease. John, who was formerly renowned for performing 120 shows annually, claimed that he discovered himself to be “24 hours from death,” which caused him to reevaluate his objectives in life.
“My children essentially chose for me. In his 2019 book, simply titled me, he writes, “I didn’t like the concept of cancer hanging over me—us—for years to come: I simply wanted rid of it.
Regrettably, about ten days after the procedure, he started to experience excruciating agony as a result of a problem with his lymph nodes that led them to leak fluid, according to Yahoo. Before physicians unintentionally healed him, he spent around two and a half months in and out of the hospital. Days before his 70th birthday, John underwent a regular colonoscopy that permanently changed the fluid, according to his book, which was published in The Daily Mail.
Tragically, just when he believed his problems were resolved, he became seriously ill in South America and was on the verge of passing away.
The singer reflected, “In a strange sense, it felt like the time I spent recovering was the response to my prayers: if you want more time, you have to learn to live like this, you have to slow down. John said, “I discovered I loved this life more than being on the road; it was like being shown a different life. This led him to decide to discontinue his tour. He expressed his desire to be present for all of his sons’ activities.
